Dutch Iris Holland Grown Bulbs In April Bloom

Dutch iris is one of around 260 iris varieties and these are said to be made from “Holland grown bulbs.” This video was taken on April 2, 2011 when the dutch iris is in bloom as an early spring flower. I had planted these free bulbs that I received without request in the rest of my order from directgardening.com around 5 months ago when they were planted in this 18 gallon container with amended compost. Really, the best way to start is to find a few fresh bulbs from a friend and save the online order for something more difficult to find. Dutch Iris In Bloom In about a month after the bulbs had been placed in the soil, a few sword-like shoots appeared. These shoots grew to over a foot tall and then the flower shoots started, became thick, and then flowered over the last five months. The cut flowers last well in arrangements and should continue to provide new blooms each year from the rhizomes. Dutch Iris Holland Grown In Bloom This has been a very easy flower to grow so I would suggest it for the novice gardener. The bloom is worth the effort which is very little. Just keep the soil moist, keep the bulbs a little over an inch deep in the rich soil for a few months, and watch the flowers explode!
